A mirror is a designers best friend. Not only are they a necessity in some spaces like bathrooms or entry ways but they can add a lot of dimension and shine to any space. The ability a mirror has to bounce light around in a room allows them to create optical illusions, making spaces appear much larger than they actually are (this is particularly noticeable in some of the photos shown below). While this obviously isn't breaking news to anyone, I love looking at unique and successful uses of such a common item. Sometimes this means something as simple as choosing an interesting mirror frame, or it could be playing with scale and selecting an oversized mirror to make a bold statement! You can also incorporate different mirror finishes to create a distinct feeling (antiqued mirror for example). My personal favourite is bronzed mirror, a warm and very glamorous alternative to standard mirrors (see below). What's your favourite?
